On Tuesday, May 25th, IASC participated in the Mobile Food Pantry Program, sponsored by Gemma E. Moran and United Way/Labor Food Center, in New London at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church. The purpose of the program is to provide fresh fruits, vegetables and proteins in remote areas of the New London community where retail grocery stores and transportation are limited. The program seeks to help food insecure families and individuals who are forced to walk too long of distances or purchase food at high prices in small convenience stores. It is estimated that The Mobile Food Pantry program feeds on average as much as 1,000 homes each month.
