The First Annual Parent Engagement Forum

On Saturday, MayIASC 24th, IASC participated in the First Annual Parent Engagement Forum that took place
at the Science & Technology Magnet High School (STEM). The mission of the forum was to engage, empower, and educate parents about various school-related topics to help their children succeed at school. The session topics were: 1) Read to Succeed: Strategies on Literacy Development, 2) Roadmap to College: Navigating High School and Beyond, 3) School Choice: New London Public School Manet Pathways, 4) What Parents Need to Know: Academic Standards for English Learners, 5) Success for All: Positive School Climate with PBIS, 6) Knowledge is Power: Autism Awareness, and 7) Advocating & Navigating Parent to School Relationships Pre K-12: Let’s Talk. Translation in Spanish / Haitian-Creole, and childcare were provided as well in order to make the event accessible for all, contributing to its success.
